Student in the Spotlight: Katie'B Jarvis

This week's Student in the Spotlight is...
      Katie'B Jarvis!

Katie'B Jarvis is a third yer MFA Candidate in our Applied Drama/Theatre for the Young program! She is also the tour manager for our annual touring theatre for the young show! She has managed The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Velveteen Rabbit, and the upcoming production of Androcles and the Lion!!! Some of her responsibilities include booking schools for the tour, sending out marketing materials to schools, being a liaison between the schools and the company, and scheduling the day of the performances. She is also the coordinator for Crosstown Theatre.

Katie'B performed in the touring Safe Schools Project, Union City, and Afternoon of the Elves, which was her favorite!! If she could work on any show she said it would be, "Bernarda Alba, which is an all women's musical. I like it because it has really fun rhythms and has interesting social commentary on patriarchal society." Her favorite memory of EMU Theatre is, "meeting my boo Cece Sumpter and Mark the cat!"

Katie'B has a thesis project going up in April before graduating. For her project she is performing a one-woman adaptation of the book, Stone Girl Bone Girl. The book is about Mary Anning, who was the first human to find a complete dinosaur skeleton, and she was only 12 years old. Check back with us for a specific date if you would like to attend her performance! Her post graduation plans include, "I would like to continue teaching and hopefully continue working on touring theatre for the young!"
